What will this placement involve?
• The aim of these classes is to create a fun environment in which the students can gain confidence, enhance their understanding of English, and improve their communication skills.
• The focus of the classes will be on improving students’ speaking and listening ability through a variety of group activities and games.
• Classes run from Monday to Friday, for 2 hours everyday; there is also plenty of free time for sight seeing and leisure time.
• Volunteers will be expected to plan basic lessons, but will be assisted in this by members of local NGOs.
• Basic teaching resources are provided.
• In April and May there are additional classes as there is a summer school, set up by local NGOs to supplement the slum children’s learning during their summer break from school.
